Downs Motel

The room was clean and well presented, the price reasonable, and the location pretty good. The motel car park is small, but there's plenty of parking out front. What bothered me was someone knocking at 9am to ask if I'd left. The worker tried to explain, but I paid for the room until 10am and there didn't seem to be an emergency, so I don't think there was an excuse.

The peaceful feel of the rooms has mattered a lot to us during a very stressful time for our family. My parents and I have stayed at The Downs Motel several times, and the lovely hosts are a big reason we keep returning. The rooms are always perfectly clean, comfortable, and have everything we need, with super comfy beds and excellent linen. I travel worldwide for work and have tried many kinds of accommodation, so I rate it highly because our experience is consistently great. It's close to Toowoomba hospital and the main shopping area, yet very quiet. We'll undoubtedly be back.

The female owner made our stay with her kind, accommodating service. She even arranged for cleaners not to come in during the morning, since I work late into the night. The rooms are clean and modern, and the location is hard to beat. For a budget stay, I couldn't recommend it more. It's quickly become our go-to place in Toowoomba.

My friend needed a place to stay, and after he paid, he was told the room's air con only worked occasionally. He wasn't allowed visitors or any noise, and had to remove all his rubbish. I understand the rubbish rule, but not the rest. There were two single beds, yet he could only use one; using the other would mean an extra charge. At $140 a night, I wouldn't expect so many restrictions. When we spoke to the lady, she was very rude. Never again, and I won't recommend this place.
