Lakes Resort

I was worried after reading the reviews online, but my fiancé and I had a really good stay. The guest manager went out of his way to fit our booking in, and the cleaning and maintenance staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, had working air conditioning, and the TV worked properly. The view was fantastic. Not every room looks out over the water, but there’s a spot on one side with enough tables for everyone.

21/02/2026, Lakes Resort Toukley The lake views and quiet surroundings made this a lovely little getaway. The resort is small, clean and well maintained, with open grassy areas and a gorgeous pool. We found the outdoor space peaceful, and the scenery was a pleasure to wake up to and enjoy through the day. I’d booked our two-bedroom apartment before reading the reviews, so the negative comments I saw later had me worried about bringing my family. We were on Level 1, and the apartment was spacious and comfortable for the four of us. We had no problems and really enjoyed our first stay here. The one awkward part was arriving to large notices warning about a $100 fine if dishes weren’t washed and rubbish wasn’t taken to the downstairs bins, which were overflowing at the time. It didn’t feel very welcoming. Even so, we had a great stay and would happily return to Lakes Resort Toukley.

For the price, the studio was comfortable enough, clean and cosy. It had a kitchenette, fridge, small table with two chairs, a two-seater sofa and an armchair. There were only two of some utensils and plates, though. The bathroom was very cramped, with hardly room to get dressed if the door was shut. There was no soap dish in the shower, and its partial glass screen and curtain still let water splash out. The adjustable shower head was loose and the pressure was weak. The TV’s small glass table was missing a rear leg, which seemed unsafe with a child around. I told the manager, who said it would be replaced, but it wasn’t during my four-night stay.

We checked into Lakes Resort on 19.01.26 after coming from Sydney, and I left almost immediately. I paid for two nights and lost the money, but the place was awful. The room smelled bad, looked out over old house roofs, and had worn, dated furniture. Along the hallway, a group of young kids were running around and making a lot of noise. I went back to reception to ask the man there to do something. He said maybe later, but nothing changed. The boys then kicked a soccer ball around downstairs near the only parking area, where guests’ cars were parked, and the receptionist did nothing. At check-in, the man barely acknowledged me. After I gave my name, he told me the key was already in the door of room R21. I’ve never encountered that in my domestic or international travels.
