Tandara Hotel Motel

Bombora bistro deserves a mention of its own. The staff were thoughtful and attentive, the service was lovely, and the food was great. We had chicken curry, papads, kids’ meals, calamari, chicken parmigiana, mashed potato, and quail. I have photos, but nowhere to post them, and couldn’t find a separate listing for the bistro, so I’m including it here. The motel is conveniently located and reasonably priced, with decent rooms. One of ours had a few bugs, though, and we couldn’t sleep in that room, which is why I’ve given four stars. A friendly note for housekeeping to check the rooms carefully, while understanding it’s a busy period.

We stayed in the free RV camp on our way to Freycinet. It was quiet, and an easy walk into town. The public toilets at the recreational ground on Charles Street were a short walk away. We didn’t go into the tavern.

We booked this inexpensive three-star place because it was close enough to the Maria Island cruise we had early the next morning. The room was basic but solid, and the bed was what we needed, it was perfectly fine. The shower was decent too. It was quiet and uneventful during our stay. No air conditioning, but the fan provided worked okay.

We had a lovely seafood platter tonight, and it was the best seafood we’ve had in Tasmania so far. Everything tasted extremely fresh and was cooked to perfection. The service was great and everyone very friendly. We’re staying two nights and will definitely be back tomorrow.
