Smugglers Inn Studio Apartments

I had booked an apartment for three nights, but a personal emergency meant I had to cancel a week beforehand. My dog had unexpectedly been diagnosed with terminal cancer and possibly had only two weeks to live. Booking.com asked the owner to make an exception and refund the $600-plus, but they refused. I understand that their policy says no refunds. Still, they then called me a “no show,” which misrepresented what happened and seemed like a way to justify keeping the money. Dealing with them during an already stressful time was unpleasant, and I wouldn’t book here again.

We’ve stayed in both apartments several times and love them. There’s everything you need, from breakfast supplies and a fully equipped kitchen with cooking gear to board games and Netflix on both TVs. The linen and decor are lovely too, and the amenities and location are fantastic.

I bought bottled water and wanted to ask whether the water filter is changed every year. How often is the air conditioner filter cleaned?

We had Unit 10 for four adults, and it was plenty big enough. The beds were so comfy, there’s everything you need for cooking, and the complex has a great pool. The only problem was the shower drain, which takes too long to clear. Great location in Victor Harbor, and I’d highly recommend staying here. We would’ve stayed longer if we could.
