The handrail on the stairs was coming away from the wall, which felt very unsafe. The saucepans were burnt and dirty.

We were looking forward to the prime location, five-star ocean views, walkable trip to town and floor plan that suited our group of six. Sadly, those were the only positives. Furnishings were worn or broken, the coffee machine listed in the specifications was missing, and the water filters were overdue for replacement. The quilts were stained, the mattresses uncomfortable, and there was a dirty pan in the oven.

Our weekend got off to a bad start when we found the apartment hadn’t been cleaned. It worked out well in the end because we moved into the apartment next door, which was much better. We had a beautiful view of the water from the balcony, and with the lovely weather we enjoyed walking around town.

We rented apartment No 6 and found out as soon as we walked in that the whole complex was being painted and maintained. Painters were working there when we arrived, with plastic sheeting over all the windows and balcony. The apartment was quite dusty and dirty from the work, but they wouldn’t refund any of the cleaning fee. It was extremely noisy day and night. This was the worst place we’ve ever stayed, and we’d never return or recommend it.

We had a great time celebrating New Year’s Eve. The kids were thrilled when the train went past and loved waving to the passengers.
