At $185 a night in Wagga, this was very poor value for money. My wife really didn’t want to stay, so we left the paid room untouched and moved next door to Prince of Wales hotel. The rooms there were much better, clean, bright and new. For comparison, I could stay at the Crown in downtown Melbourne for $180 or the Hyatt for $190. The building feels badly aged, with tired furniture and decor, broken features and creepy, empty hallways with no windows. There’s a dark side entrance for “after hour” guests, who apparently arrive as early as 7pm. There are barely any amenities, and the place could pass for a hostel or social housing facility. Our room had a tub that was meant to be a spa, but its jets were broken. It looked like it had been installed in the 80s and not maintained since. There were no green spaces, and the parking lot had rubbish and cigarette butts. The room was only partly clean: the sheets and bathroom were clean, but the floors were dirty and oily, and I have photos to show it. There was nobody to greet us in person, though the staff member I spoke with on the phone was friendly and responsive. I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but the facilities need attention. Hotels that invest in renewing their facilities and making guests feel impressed should get credit for it, and this one hasn’t.

We arrived on a Saturday night and were welcomed by a warm, friendly gentleman who chatted with us and generously offered an upgrade. The room was spacious, spotless and amazing, with a comfortable bed. The bathroom products had a lovely feel and scent, and seemed really good quality. The whole property was neat and tidy. I can’t fault it, and it’ll be our go-to when we stay in Wagga.

I’ve stayed at The Pavilion several times for work over the past few years. It had started to feel grubby and unkempt on my last couple of visits, with tired-looking rooms that weren’t as inviting. This week’s overnight stay was a pleasant surprise. The room was clean and comfortable, the grubby carpet has been replaced with new flooring, and there’s fresh paint. I was greeted at reception by a nice bloke, though I didn’t catch his name. They’ve also brought back continental breakfast in the dining area. Great improvements, recommended.

We drove all the way from Sydney for a one-night stay and were very happy with the service. We had an extra guest over who was very loud, and the manager called to ask us to have them leave. I did, out of respect for the rules. We’d also been smoking on the footpath beside the rooms without knowing it wasn’t allowed. Later, I texted the manager to ask if the guests could come back without the loud one, and he agreed. When we checked out in the morning, I asked about fees or fines and he was extremely humble and kind, saying not to worry about it. Very happy with everything. Thanks so much for the great service.

We stayed at the Pavilion for a wedding in Wagga. The room was nice, the bed was very comfortable, and the location was handy, close to everything.
