Romano's Hotel

There are lots of little spaces, sports on TV near the bar, and a great outdoor area for families. The cocktails were nice too. Meals are standard pub fare, though the chips were great.

Mr Romano would be chuffed, I think, that his drive for excellence is still being carried on. The reception team were lovely, happy and professional; bar staff stayed cool under pressure and served with a smile. Wait staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. The kitchen was first class. I asked for a rare steak and actually got one, which doesn't happen often. Cheers.

When we checked out, staff suddenly said we had taken the hotel's cups and warned that our bond could be deducted. Nobody had checked first, and it was only sorted out when another staff member ran after us to clarify. We obviously hadn't taken anything. It left me wondering if we were challenged just because we were two Asian guests.

We were there from Thursday afternoon to Sunday morning. The meals were top quality and affordable, and customer service was excellent. Even with the extreme weather, our room stayed cool enough. The location suited us well, with shopping centres and takeaway places nearby. It was also an easy drive to Kapooka for our son's march out parade.
