Gardenview Lodge Motel

We were in town visiting family and booked a budget room, which is what we got. The staff were friendly and the service was great throughout. I'd suggest putting photos of the budget room bathrooms online. That wouldn't have changed our decision, but I was glad I'd seen other guests' reviews and knew what to expect. Good value and a pleasant stay. I'd happily return for a short visit.

Everything in the room matched what was listed when I booked, and the place was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The stay was hassle-free, with the amenities just as described. Good value for money, and I'd recommend it to anyone after a comfortable stay at a reasonable price.

The garden-facing room was clean and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. It's a short drive into town. The room was basic, but I liked the original retro bathroom tiles. The ground-floor rooms opposite the cabins, among the garden, feel friendlier than the bland multilevel hotels that have been common since the 1960s, maybe.

The hostess was wonderful and checked that everything was going well. The place was well maintained, everything worked, and it was great value with plenty of parking and easy access to town. We stayed in the two-bedroom unit for four and used both bedrooms plus the sofa bed. I slept on the sofa, which was a bit uncomfortable, but that's what I expected. Breakfast was included, though we brought our own food. The kitchen had what you'd expect for a self-catering weekend. It's easy to find as you come into Wangaratta from Melbourne. It isn't five-star, but it was excellent for what it is.
