The room was basic and very dated, but the bed was comfy and the hot water came through almost instantly. Check in was seamless: no keys now, just a pin code and room number sent by text around the nominated arrival time. The rooms are quiet. There were no instructions for the AC or heater, and I couldn’t get the heater working, so the unit stayed on aircon. I had the same problem with the TV and couldn’t select internet TV. Good thing I brought my own media devices!

They do allow dogs, but the room was VERY dirty and I felt uncomfortable the whole time. It’s right on the highway, so it was noisy. Never again.

The curtains wouldn’t stay closed, so I had to peg them shut. The bathroom fan had a rattling, blown bearing, and smoke from people smoking was coming through the bathroom AC heater. The internet TV didn’t work, and reception was useless. I had to check another guest in myself. The electric blankets weren’t even plugged in, and the shower head had a slow leak and kept falling while it was on.

It’s less than a 15 minute walk to the centre of Warrnambool, and parking beside the motel is free. Some rooms are only accessible by stairs. We found the price, room and location good, and can recommend the motel. We also highly recommend the Thai restaurant Liebig in Liebig street. Don’t forget to see the old buildings and the cannon Hill lookout.

The Mahogony Motel was a good budget option, and I was impressed. The rooms were dated but extremely clean, with a kitchenette and excellent shower pressure. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was fantastic, within walking distance of town. Parking was tight. I want to mention again how excellent the cleanliness was, especially after staying at other hotels that didn’t meet the same high standard. Thank you.
