My room was comfortable, as it usually is here, but there was no welcome note or amenity this time. Check-in also felt oddly transactional. I came into the lobby with my bags and was asked if I needed help, though I was clearly there to check in. Nobody acknowledged that I’d stayed before or mentioned my Accor loyalty status, which other Accor hotels tend to handle well. I’ve been a Diamond member for a long time and stay at many Accor properties each year. The William Inglis is one I’ve returned to repeatedly, and I’ve generally found it excellent: distinctive, well designed, and unusual for Sydney’s southwest. That history is why I’ve rated this stay four stars. Looking at this visit on its own, I’d put it nearer two or three. None of these lapses was a major problem by itself, but together they made the stay feel less polished. Given my past experiences, this seems more like an issue with training or consistency than with the property. I’m hopeful the team can return to its usual standard, and I’d like to stay again.

Zane at concierge and reception made a real difference. He was friendly, professional, and attentive, and took care of a couple of requests quickly and calmly. It felt like a genuine welcome, not just being processed at check-in. The hotel itself is beautiful, with spotless, comfortable rooms and a rooftop pool looking out over the racecourse. The whole place feels premium without being pretentious, and the design gives the stay its own character. With the facilities and service like Zane’s, I’d happily give it five stars. I’ll be back, and would recommend it to anyone after a quality stay in Sydney’s southwest.

The pool and canbana area was probably the best part of our holiday stay, and the kids had a great time there. The staff were lovely too, especially at breakfast. Neha took particular care with my son’s coeliac disease, making his GF bread separately. She also understood that, as Muslims, we can’t eat ham and made sure it wasn’t in the omellete, which she prepared separately. She gave excellent service and deserves a raise. Our room only looked onto the main road, not the views we’d expected. The toilet area was separated from the bed by almost see-through glass doors, which we didn’t think was a good design. There was no sauna for hotel guests.

The fire alarm went off around midnight, shortly after I’d fallen asleep, and kept sounding for about 30 minutes. I understand guest safety has to come first. As a fire safety consultant, though, my understanding is that trained staff in a building like this can investigate an alarm and, if they confirm it’s false and it’s safe, silence or reset the system. The AC also switched off during the alarm, leaving the room warm, and I didn’t get back to sleep until 4am. Staff should be trained to investigate, silence, and reset alarms, since avoidable disruption affects guests’ wellbeing and confidence. There were other basic things that fell short. The ironing board cover was torn and falling apart, so I couldn’t iron. At check-in I was told I could have any non-alcoholic drinks from the minibar, but it wasn’t turned on and everything in it was warm. I also received no Platinum acknowledgment, welcome letter, or small amenity, which I’d normally expect. I wouldn’t stay here if you want to feel looked after or get a good night’s sleep.

The staff were warm, professional, and made me feel welcome and valued throughout. The hotel was calm and inviting, and its facilities were well maintained, which made the stay relaxing. My room was spotless, comfortable, and nicely styled, with care taken over the details. Of all the Accor hotels I’ve stayed at in NSW and QLD, this has been the best so far. I’d gladly return and recommend it to anyone wanting a premium stay.
