Cedar Cottages Blackmans Bay

The location was fantastic and Cedar House, the big one in the middle, was a very nice house. But the beds and cleaning really let it down. There were six beds, and every one felt equally awful, like it could have come from an op shop 50 years ago. At $350 a night, I expected a decent bed. We also found old popcorn between the couch cushions, a greasy oven tray, very dirty windows, and used soap left in the shower caddy. It felt gross staying somewhere that hadn’t been properly cleaned after the previous guests. With replacement beds and a thorough clean, it could be worth staying. As it is, I wouldn’t recommend it.

We stayed in the two-bedroom Cinnamon cottage, which is new and has a comfortable kitchen and bathroom. There’s a washing machine too. The location worked really well, with the highway easy to reach and the beach, restaurants, and shopping centres all within walking distance. Just be aware there’s only one air conditioner, in the living area. The bedrooms don’t have air-conditioning.

We spent a week at the country suit, my husband, our 12-year-old daughter, and me, and were all very happy with how clean and comfortable it was. The appliances were new and worked well. There were plenty of useful extras, like containers, cooking tools, clean wraps, zip locks, garbage bags, and baking paper, which made a longer stay much easier. Shops and the beach are close by. Highly recommend!

We were left without a hotel after a late-night vet visit, so we were grateful someone recommended this pet-friendly place. We booked the Cedar Loft, and they answered our call late and made payment easy. Contactless check-in was painless, and the apartment was cleaner than most non-pet-friendly Airbnbs. It suited us perfectly and even had a small fenced yard. Definitely recommend.
