Mount Rumney Escapes really is a quiet, peaceful escape, with fresh mountain air and a blissful atmosphere. It was good for the soul. We loved watching the spectacular panoramic sunrises, then later the sun setting over the bushland and ocean. We’d wake up curled in warm, comfortable beds. It was a magical stay with my family. The modern units were clean, spacious and immaculately set up, with plenty of useful household things that made us feel at home. Give it a try.

The yard around the Platypus Cabin was badly neglected, with metre high weeds, thistles and grass. I wouldn’t let my dog run around in it, especially with the risk of snakes. Outside the cabin there was broken furniture, broken pipes and other rubbish. The place sits in a run down, industrial part of the property, with old vehicles in a car yard, perhaps waiting for maintenance, plus a huge looming shed and another workshop nearby. The gravel access road was passable, though maybe not for a low clearance 2WD. We stayed overnight recently. It’s a budget option that allows pets, and the cabin itself was basically clean, but it smelled strongly of smoke, which had soaked into the carpets and soft furnishings. The TV didn’t work at all, perhaps because of the remote. The water was fine, the stove and panel heater worked, and the bed was comfortable. There’s no excuse for the state of the yard. We didn’t visit the other accommodation, so can’t comment on it.

This was our second stay at Mt Rumney Escapes, and we love it. The rooms are always clean and tidy, and the view and wildlife are hard to beat. This time we could bring our four legged friend, which was so handy for our last minute trip down the state. We’ll be back!

The views are astounding, and feeding mummy roo and her joey was a highlight. We had such a comfy stay that five stars doesn’t feel like enough, more like 10. The mattresses were the best, everything was clean and tidy, and it had all the conveniences of home. Communication and information were excellent. Thank you, Clarissa and Jess. You cannot miss this escape!

I really needed this vacation and loved my stay. The view was absolutely amazing, it was easy to stay for a while, and the host was very good. And I got to see some wallabies, which was so cool. I’ll definitely come back.
