Cocos Seaview Apartments

We lost $787 and also had to pay for 3 extra nights on Xmas island, while Cocos seaview MADE EXTRA MONEY from our loss. Our flight from Xmas Island was cancelled, so we were stuck there and couldn’t get to Cocos. The plane didn’t arrive to pick us up for 4 days. The room we’d paid for was used by people stuck on the island, and we asked for a refund, but were offered only 40% toward another 7 night booking. Flights to the island are impossible to get, with no availability. We begged again and were still refused. They had NO LOSS, since the room was used AND PAID for by the people stuck at Cocos. There was no sympathy despite knowing the situation we and the other passengers were in. We’d paid $787 for 3 nights.

The island is hard to live on and very expensive. Food is difficult to find, and you need a car to get around, so bring as much food as you can. This place doesn’t have the private deck area advertised, just a shared area. The AC is very old and noisy, and everything is minimal. Quarantine is involved, though that part was still okay.

The locals were fantastic, and I can’t believe we’d never visited before. It’s the best tropical island I’ve been to. We went in July 2020, just after tourists were allowed back on Cocos Island, and it was a real surprise if you love water sports and fishing. Levi and Belen at Cocos Seaview Apartments were fantastic. Levi knows the ocean and water sports around there inside out, and arranged anything I wanted. My wife used the bikes to get around. One day Levi came back from fishing with tuna sushi, crayfish and a huge sail fish for dinner. The room was fantastic too.

Our luggage was left at Perth airport when we arrived on Cocos Island because the plane had stayed overnight, and we were told it would take 3 days to arrive. We were angry, shocked and disappointed. Seaview staff Jack and Fran kindly lent us short pants, T-shirts, caps and sunscreen. They were so helpful. Thank you both.
