Ulverstone River Retreat

This peaceful riverside retreat has become our go-to whenever we pass through Ulverstone. It was our second visit, and we’re so glad we found this special place. Kim and Anthony are quick to respond and wonderfully supportive, and you can tell they really care for their guests. Everything is beautifully clean, especially the kitchen, and the fresh linens make us feel at home as soon as we arrive after a long drive. We love the calm, restorative atmosphere and can’t wait to return.

The River Front Studio suited me well since I was out exploring Tasmania from 7am to 6pm. It is cosy, though, so I’d consider a larger room at the Ulverston River Retreat if I planned to spend all day inside. The hosts were welcoming, proactive and easy to approach, and the room was clean, comfortable and well equipped with good quality amenities. The roads were paved, and local towns including Penguin, Davenport and Launceston weren’t too far away. Best of all, the balcony view was phenomenal. I spent every evening watching wallabies, birds and boats pass along the river without any interruptions. Fantastic stay, and I’d do it again.

We were surprised by how many toys there were, and our little one had the best time. The place is tucked near the river with gorgeous views. It also has a well equipped kitchen, a king bed on a mezzanine, inverter heating and cooling, board games and books. From the couch, you get a lovely garden view, which made the place feel like a treat. Cradle Mountain is about an hour away, so it’s a worthwhile base for exploring.

This retreat has clearly been put together with a lot of care, and it’s a real credit to Kim and Anthony. Everything was amazing and much more than we expected, with such thoughtful appointments and all the things we could want. We even found chocolate under our pillow. It felt like a big, warm hug.
