Winnellie Hotel Motel

I was visiting my partner in hospital and needed somewhere to stay while I was in town from out of state. This was great value, with a lovely dining room serving great pub food. For me the location worked well, about 15 min from the hospital and a similar distance into town. Wonderful pub accommodation with its own ensuite. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Clean rooms and a great cheap place to stay. Tip: take a photo of the envelope with the details. The envelope should explain that the access screen is a touch screen, which reveals the number pad.

The beds were comfortable, if you managed to get any sleep. Each night for the three nights we stayed, a piercing smoke alarm in our room and some others went off at 1am, 2am, or 3am. Really annoying. Room doors were noisy all through the night too. There was nobody at reception, and the door card only worked now and then on either door, if you were lucky. Frustrating. We had no bath mat, hair dryer, shower gel, dish drops, or tea towel, though there was plenty of shampoo and conditioner. Overall it was a bad experience.

After 11 hours travelling from Tasmania, we arrived at 1.30am and couldn't get into our room because the door lock was broken. We called the after hours number four times and eventually reached the night manager, who barely spoke English. We didn't get access until 3.20am, so we were pretty unhappy. We asked them to fix the lock before we came back the next evening. They fiddled with it, but still didn't repair it.
