I hope this motel has improved since our stay in late 2011. We were warned that nobody would be at the office when we arrived mid-afternoon on Sunday, and our key had been left in the laundry. The car park was empty and covered with leaves. The room was worse. The carpet was sticky and stained with alcohol, the glass covers on the bed lights were broken and hazardous, and water from the bathroom sink leaked onto my feet when I turned on the tap. We could also see that the room next door was a mess, with its beds still unmade. We had no trouble deciding to move on.

The room was spotless and looked great when we arrived. They’d already set up a brand new cot for our son, still wrapped in its factory plastic. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.

Mel & Steve Fripp are lovely owners. The rooms start at $290p/w, and this place seems suited to semi-permanent accommodation. It isn’t really a resort, and they don’t offer overnight stays or short-term availability. If you need somewhere for a night or a couple of days, it isn’t set up for that.

We spent one night in a lakeside cabin while moving from Melbourne. It was filthy, with blood spatter and body hair in the shower. The door locks were loose, and the route to and from the cabin was pitch black.

The caravan park is lovely and has friendly people. Sadly, the resort next door is unpleasant. People on drugs there make those of us in the nice caravan park live in fear.
