Watersedge Motel

Really bad place. There were wires hanging out of the wall, and visitors aren't allowed after 6pm. He has a hidden sign that he brings out when he wants to, which felt very sneaky. Definitely not worth the money.

The name is lovely, it's right across from the water, and there is a nice restaurant. But the office staff weren't very enthusiastic, and the price felt high for the shock of the room I walked into. When booking, nobody told me how many floors there were. Steps aren't an issue if you can manage them, but if you can't, ask for a ground floor room. The motel is quite old and the rooms badly need updating. There were steps inside too, including one down just after entering with no warning sign. The bathroom was up a step and then down another, and the bedroom area had an old kitchen table with the kettle on it. The little fridge had the microwave on top. The room was very small, as was the bathroom, and it didn't even have a toaster. The kettle wouldn't fit under the bathroom sink tap, so the only place to fill it was the shower recess. The ironing board and iron were both disgraceful. If you just need a bed and shower for the night, it's okay. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this motel.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the view was lovely through the big picture window. I just wish that window opened. I booked a family room while travelling with young kids, but the place didn't feel very family oriented. There were lots of young men smoking joints, drinking and swearing, which put me off.

The location is amazing, and I'll come back to the area for its lovely surroundings and nearby restaurants. The accommodation itself was shocking, though, the worst I've ever stayed in. It was very expensive, probably because of the long weekend, and nobody told me about the deposit until check-in. They only refunded it after I contacted them a week later. My workmate had the same thing happen. The staff member who checked me in was very difficult to understand. The room was filthy, although the sheets looked clean. The bathroom smelled bad when I arrived, and the shower pressure was awful with water temperature that wouldn't stay constant. I highly recommend avoiding this place.
