Mudstone Suites

We're locals and managed to sneak in a little staycation. Mudstone Suites exceeded what we expected, and the Villa was superb. What an amazing experience!

We had a lovely holiday here, and it felt well worth the stay. The place is generally clean, the staff are friendly, and the heater was turned on before I arrived, so the room was warm and cosy straight away on a rainy winter day. It's about 20 minutes from Pemberton centre, so I'd suggest picking up anything you need on the way. It's in the National park and very close to Dave Evans bicentennial tree, one of the climbable trees. A beautiful, peaceful place to relax among the greenery. The carpets on the wall smelled, though, and the lighting was dim, even if the bedside lamps were okay.

The room was clean and had some nice touches, and the bath and shower looked great. Still, the place felt half finished. The bathtub plug didn't work properly, the only frying pan had peeling Teflon, and the DVD collection was mostly action and war movies, which seemed a bit odd for a romantic setting.

The Moroccan suite was thoughtfully laid out and really comfortable. It's quiet in the bush setting, and I actually enjoyed not having TV. There was a good CD selection and very good WiFi. If you like wildlife, I saw whitebreasted robins, inland thorn ills, grey fantails, fairy wrens and kangaroos. I was also surprised to spot a few different carnivorous plants in the lawn. There are a couple of resident staffies roaming freely. They'll bring something over and drop it at your feet or in your lap for you to throw. The older one barks for attention when feeling neglected, but that's because its eyesight is deteriorating. I wasn't expecting the dogs, so I felt a bit uneasy at first. Staffies have big jaws, and you can't be sure how an unfamiliar dog will act. They turned out to be lovely and well behaved.
