The bed was soft and very comfortable, and the room and bathroom were clean and large. But we had no shower head in our ensuite and were told to use the shower in a dirty room down the long corridor. It wasn’t cleaned during our stay, yet we still paid the full room price. The owner apparently didn’t go to the local hardware store, which was open all long weekend, to get a replacement because he had to play in a band. Very poor priorities. After a long drive, we found the walkway from the carpark up the stairs untidy, with long weeds, leaves and fern branches across it. The middle fountain wasn’t working and was a mess, and the koi pond was so dirty you could hardly see the fish, with leaves strewn around. Our room was very hot when we arrived in summer, and the air-conditioning hadn’t been turned on. The curtain backing was torn and hanging, and the curtains wouldn’t close fully. I’ve heard others complain about lots of issues with their room amenities too. This used to be a beautiful, charming place 10 or so years ago. Maybe it could be sold to someone more proactive. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend staying here.

Guests can end the day with a cosy evening, a nip of whisky, impromptu live guitar, and lively conversation with the hosts and other visitors. Breakfast is a decadent spread for every palate and dietary requirement, served in a grand dining room. The owners are exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to accommodate people, even offering thoughtful extras spontaneously. Faversham House itself is a stately, lavish building on expansive, picturesque grounds. Every room has its own charm and style, with stunning decor, tasteful furnishings, and amenities that are next level compared with any hotel room I’ve stayed in. It feels like a taste of historical decadence with modern luxuries, far more than just a night or two away. An experience guests won’t forget.

Downstairs there’s a dining room, drawing room, library, and other shared spaces. You might run into the elegant, entertaining Emerson, or catch talented Kim playing one of the instruments in the drawing room. The gardens are sensational, and breakfast is superb. The rooms have lovely antique pieces, gorgeous linens, sumptuous drapes, and decor like it belongs to another time. They’re elegant, super comfy, and have ensuites. It’s a chance to step back in time, leave your worries behind, and relax. Thank you so much, Emerson and Kim. An experience not to miss.

We booked the whole mansion for my Dad’s 80th and had such a great stay. The rooms were spotless, and all the food was delicious. The cooked breakfast and homemade granola in the morning beat anything we’ve had in Perth, and I was especially impressed by the proper hollandaise on the eggs. The place is totally charming, and we loved having the separate pool stable space after dinner. The new owners were wonderful and made us feel right at home. Thank you, Emerson and Kim. We’ll be back!

The room had a real wow factor, breakfast was included and great, and the new family puppy, Benji, was adorable. We drove over from Perth with friends to stay a night at Faversham house, which had been recommended to us. The property is beautiful, and the family who run it are lovely. Nola and Richard helped a lot while I planned the trip, then turned out to be great fun and awesome hosts. We’re already planning another trip in November. Highly recommend it for the venue and for meeting these lovely people. Thanks for a memorable weekend, guys.
