Just wrapped up a three night stay with friends at this beautiful retreat. It was peaceful, clean, well stocked, and extremely comfortable. Highly recommend.

Joy gave us a warm welcome and took time to share a little history of the property and cottages. Hillside was a lovely place to spend a weekend unwinding, just under two hours from home. The cottage was an excellent size for couples. We brought our own food, but York’s centre is close by, with pubs, cafes, and sights including a motor museum.

The dogs had a great time exploring the property and making new friends, and Joy and her staff welcomed all of us warmly. The quaint cottage had everything we needed from home, including a log fire ready to light and a super comfy bed. Hillside is a wonderful country retreat and an easy drive from Perth. We’ll be back!

Once our family arrived, there was plenty of space for all nine of us across three generations, plus our toy poodle. We’d booked the four bedroom house for seven nights over Easter. My husband and I, the retired couple, came a day early and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast from Joy in the old tea rooms on the property. It was lovely to meet her, and she was welcoming and informative about the place. The rustic accommodation was well appointed and very clean. The town centre was an easy walk, so we could eat out or stay in as it suited us without needing the car. We held our annual Easter Egg hunt, with the two horses from the neighbouring property watching closely. All in all, a great place for a few days.

The gardens are beautiful, with wildlife and amazing views of the hills. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, with comfy couches and beds. Joy is one of the loveliest people you could meet, extremely helpful, welcoming, and accommodating with us and our furr baby. Love Hillside retreat! Highly recommend, and we’ll be back sooner than later.
