Herceg Etno Selo Medjugorje Hotel

We had a lovely time, and the location was great. The hospitality was warm, the service excellent, and the food delicious.

I was so dissatisfied and disgusted by this stay that it cast a shadow over my whole time in the Hercegovina region, especially around Međugorje. The customer service was also far below par. The rooms had several problems: black mould on the shower silicone between the tiles and shower, missing electrical outlets, and an exposed live wire right beside the sink in my room’s washroom. Floorboard trim was coming away from the wall, and there were paint chips, other cosmetic damage, and broken picture frames throughout the hotel, both inside and outside the rooms. The restaurant food was mediocre and expensive, and my whole family had bowel problems for the rest of the night after eating there. For a five-star price, it felt like a two-star stay. I’d never return and wouldn’t recommend it even to my enemies. If I hadn’t already paid and left, I would have asked for a full refund. :(

The rooms were clean and the service was generally good, but the air conditioning didn’t work at all. When I called reception, they advised me to open the windows, which was a shocking response. There was loud music and children all night, so avoid this place if you want to sleep or relax.

The location feels lovely and welcoming, and the staff are usually friendly, though some seem bored and not in the mood to serve people at times. I stayed for a week. The rooms were okay, but the cleaning staff only changed the towels. They never changed the linen or cleaned the floor, which I ended up doing myself. I understand staff can get tired, but they’re here to make guests feel welcome.
