Hostel Residence

We booked the three-bedroom apartment, and it can fit a lot of people. The old building has plenty of character, and the staff were kind and charming. It’s a safe area with a young crowd and pubs downstairs, though things quiet down by midnight. The owner speaks five languages.

The location couldn’t be better, and the room was spacious, clean, and cozy. I had a really good stay and would come back next time I’m here.

Breakfast is included, and you can park in their garage for 7.5 euros a day, about half what parking costs elsewhere in town. This family-run hostel is right in the center, close to Sarajevo’s bars, and it’s easy to meet other travelers. The facilities are great and everything was very clean. The older man and woman who run it were friendly and helpful. We relaxed in the common room, full of old antics, and heard their stories about the war and Bosnian history. Our hosts also put together an impromptu dinner. Staying here definitely added to my time in Sarajevo, and I’d recommend it.

It’s clean and basic, but the street is noisy, so it may not suit you if you’re sensitive to sound. Some staff weren’t friendly and could be argumentative. They were very particular about shoes, even at check-in when I was carrying a heavy bag, and complained before I’d even put it down. You also have to pay to store baggage after checkout.
