The Alina Hotel & Suites

The food is fantastic and the rooms are comfortable. But some staff behave very badly, especially one named Antu. That could reflect badly on the hotel management and cost them customers.

This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in in Bangladesh. The rooms were disgusting, with dirty sheets, unidentified stains, hair, pubic hair, and bed bugs. I had to change rooms twice because the first was too dirty, and I found bed bugs in the second room too. The price isn’t very high, but I’ve traveled to more than 100 countries and sometimes paid three times less for three times more luxury. The place didn’t look like the pictures, and the area beside the railway station didn’t feel nice or safe at all. They refunded my second night because I didn’t want to stay. I’d asked for the other night to be refunded too, and felt they should have done that, but the customer service was bad and they didn’t. I wouldn’t stay here. Avoid it.

The buffet breakfast had plenty of choices and was both hygienic and delicious. The receptionists and other staff were polite and tried to solve problems quickly, and there’s also a restaurant. Rooms, the washroom, and outdoor areas were neat and clean, with good service overall. It’s a quality hotel about a 10-minute walk from Chittagong Railway Station, and room rates are relatively cheap.

The reception staff were pleasant, quick, and helpful, and the nearby restaurant was okay, though its tablecloths were dirty. The hotel itself badly needs renovation: everything felt worn, battered, or dirty. My first room smelled of cigarettes, and I had to switch from the second because its door was stuck. There were worn walls, mold, stains on the sheets, steady road noise, and a hard bed.
