Getting a table away from the giant football screen took a while, and once we sat down, the mosquitoes made the evening hard to enjoy. The loud music and screen by the pool also wrecked the calm dinner and city-view evening we had hoped for at Le Méridien Dhaka. We couldn’t get anyone on the phone before arriving. With prices this high, the food and service felt underwhelming. I was even given raw tahini paste instead of prepared tahini and had to mix it myself. The experience fell short of both the cost and what we expected.

The buffet had a nice range of food and plenty available, and I ate a lot without getting gastric trouble. The food itself wasn’t delicious, though I’d recommend it from a health point of view. The place is nice, but the price is high, so it’s not for everyone, except perhaps the elite. If you arrive on a motorcycle with an expensive helmet, be aware that helmets aren’t allowed inside. You have to leave yours in the parking area at your own risk.

The rooms are spacious, the café is lovely, and the service from the staff was impeccable. It’s one of Dhaka’s best five-star properties, in a great spot about five minutes from the airport. The spa is also very good and offers a wide range of services.

The steaks were the standout for me, cooked just right and full of flavor. I also really liked the kababs, fresh juices, and jelapi, and there were plenty of good desserts to choose from. The buffet had a satisfying range and quality overall. I had a wonderful Iftar and dinner at Le Méridien Dhaka, and it would be a good choice for a special meal with family or friends.

We loved the welcome drinks so much that we asked for another at checkout, and the checkout itself was quick and easy. The staff were extremely nice, and most spoke English fluently enough that communication shouldn’t be a problem. The security checkpoint was at the entrance, and the lobby staff served us delicious drinks while taking our details. Our double room at Le Méridien Dhaka was small but cozy, with great beds and a view of the airport. The bathroom was large, with a decent-sized tub and shower and modern facilities. The room amenities were nice, though the TV could have been better. The elevator required our specific room key to work, which was pretty cool. The gym had modern equipment and well-equipped machines. I especially liked the advanced treadmills, though I didn’t have the right running shoes. The hotel is right by the airport, convenient for tourists and travelers, and we saw pilots and flight crew staying there too. Thanks for an amazing stay, we’ll definitely be back.
