Dukes’ Palace – by Dukes’ Hotel Collection

The staff were excellent, and the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had. It even included chocolate, of course. Our room in this beautiful old building was spacious and luxurious, and nights were so quiet that the stay felt really restful.

The hotel is stunning throughout, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and full of useful information. We stayed in the Dukes Residence, just off the main hotel, in a large room with a large bathroom and patio doors opening onto a courtyard. There was a coffee machine, safe, and fridge, and room service each day was a lovely surprise. We’ve just had a wonderful stay right in the heart of Brugge. If we visit again, we’ll stay here for sure. Fabulous!

The biggest letdown came on our last day. After spending the day walking around, we tried to order room service and were told the Residence doesn’t offer it. We could order food and pick it up ourselves. For somewhere presented alongside a 5-star hotel, that felt unacceptable. The Residence came across like a random Airbnb using the hotel’s name, without the service or comfort we expected. We’d booked Dukes Palace Residence after being told it was connected to the main Dukes Palace Hotel and that we could use the same facilities, which was misleading. Check-in was bad too. We arrived at 2:28 PM after an 8+ hour flight and a 1.5-hour train ride, completely exhausted. The receptionist kept telling us to leave our luggage and explore the city instead of waiting. We sat in the lobby for 30 minutes, visibly tired, but she made no effort to help or see if the room could be ready sooner. If I’d known this beforehand, I never would have booked.

The spacious room and the hotel’s location near the Christmas Markets were great. The breakfast buffet was stellar, with so much variety. I’d definitely recommend the place, though the bathroom outlet didn’t work and the shower took a long time to get hot.
