Hostel Lybeer

It's a very clean hostel in a great location, and the staff are super friendly. My two complaints were the internet, which was very slow for uploads and downloads, and the lack of a place with tables, a room, or a bar where you can work on a computer after midnight. I think they close the only common area at 23h, so working in bed is the only option, and that's uncomfortable and could disturb the others in the room. Apart from those two things, I highly recommend it.

We stayed in a city flat managed by this hostel, and after the first night we woke up to sheets crawling with bed bugs. My friend was badly bitten (see pictures). They moved us to another room, but it had no kitchen facilities. We got no refund, even though they took my payment details at checkout and I followed up by email and phone. Bed bug eggs had also got into my luggage and jacket, even though they were well away from the beds, so the place seems to be infested. It disrupted the rest of our trip and cost us a lot of time and money, with no compensation. The receptionist who helped us change rooms was lovely, but that still wasn't good enough. Do NOT stay here.

Check-in took 45 minutes of waiting, and the bed they said was clean was full of piss. They hadn't washed or checked it. After I'd lain in it, they wouldn't let me do laundry. A drunk guy took my bed, smelled like shit, and started an argument with everyone. There was throw-up in the sink. This place is ridiculous, stay anywhere else. The downstairs is nice and cool, and they have a guitar, but that's about the only reason it gets one star.

For one night in Bruge, the very nice, private, affordable room suited me best, even though this is a hostel. It's perfectly located between the trainstation and the main shoppingstreet, with the town just beyond. The lobby staff had a great service attitude. There was a small problem after the previous visitor, which didn't disturb me, and it was fixed as soon as I mentioned it while heading into town. I recommend this room and the hostel itself for a night or two for one person or a couple in Bruge.
