Hotel 't Keizershof

We stayed at ‘t Keizershof for two nights with my family and enjoyed it a lot. Check-in is a little tricky because you have to go to the restaurant next door, but the staff were welcoming and helpful. We liked the location and view, and the price was quite cheap compared with other hotels in Brugge. We'd definitely recommend it for a trip to Brugge.

It felt more like a hostel where you get your own room. The price was good at €90, but the halls smelled foul, like stagnant water drains, and my partner was shivering even with the radiator on for hours. Comfy beds and polite staff might have earned it a better rating. Sharing toilets and showers wasn't ideal either. We learned we'd rather pay a little extra for a 'real' hotel room.

The old building has charm, and the main guy who checked me in was nice, though he seemed overworked. My room had what I needed as a solo traveler. The shared bathrooms were clean enough, and no AC makes sense in an old place, but the tiny desk fan wasn't much help. Getting around the different parts of the place was confusing. It's spread across two or three properties, and check-in is at the bar next door, which has different branding from the hotel. At checkout, the hallway sign said to leave the key at the hotel or restaurant next door, or hang it on a hook. I went next door to make sure they got it, but the employee was confused and said the properties weren't related and it wasn't their key. The keys are old, and I was told they're all "master keys," which didn't sound reassuring for security. The room locks were also difficult to work. I had to fiddle with the key and lock, and sometimes couldn't get the door unlocked from inside without trying for 15 minutes, or else leave it unlocked overnight. For £78 a night, it wasn't terrible value, but the whole stay was frustrating.

A cute little hotel with parking available, close to the centre. Check-in through the restaurant was quick and easy. Bruges is stunning, photos really don't do it justice.
