Courtyard by Marriott Brussels EU

The bed was the biggest letdown. I was counting on a good night's sleep, but the mattress was hard and left me aching during the night and through the day. The room also stayed quite warm, and the AC kept switching off or blowing hot air. There was construction across from the hotel, and some of the noise carried into the rooms. There were plenty of thoughtful touches otherwise. The room had a safe, iron and board, ice bucket and other amenities. I liked that they used a large glass bottle to refill with purified sparkling or mineral water instead of handing out bottled water. WiFi was excellent, the shower was lovely, housekeeping was good and the staff were friendly. The room and bathroom were clean, check-in was quick, and the lifts came fast. It's about a 20-minute walk to the city centre, with public transport nearby.

My room was completely quiet, as it was in the other part of the building from the major construction opposite the entrance. I stayed in January 2026, so that work was going on then. I can't say how noisy the rooms facing it might have been. For 2026, I'd ask for a quieter side of the building if a good night's sleep matters. The bed was very comfortable, though the room felt a little cold even with the temperature set adequately. The pillows seemed to be feather, so anyone with allergies should let the staff know ahead of time. I assume they may have another option, but I can't confirm that. There were no slippers or bathrobes, and the carpet had several visible stains and dirt. The room could use a thorough deep clean. WiFi was free, but the scrambled eggs I had at breakfast were too salty. With Brussels full and hotel choices limited, the stay was okay. I wouldn't make it my first choice next time, though it works for a night or two.

The location was great and the staff were kind. Still, the booking side needs work. During our three-day stay, we had to check in and out each day and pay a deposit every time, and nobody seemed able to explain why. One day's breakfast had also vanished from our reservation. The reservation system clearly needs improvement.

We were so uncomfortable at Courtyard Brussels that we cut our holiday short and left a night early. Our first room was dirty, with leftover food on the floor, and a large construction site nearby kept waking us with noise. We hadn't been told about the construction in advance. Staff said to email them and promised to look into it and try to find a solution. We sent a detailed, lengthy email, but never got a reply. We expected better service from a Courtyard hotel and wanted our complaint taken seriously. It felt as though they had no interest in resolving the problem or taking responsibility. A very unpleasant stay, and we wouldn't recommend it.
