Hôtel Aviation

The service was warm and welcoming, and they offer breakfast in the morning. I had heard the area wasn't safe, so I felt lucky to be with a group and back at the hotel before 9pm. My room was cramped, with barely space to squeeze between the bed and wall, and the floor was especially dirty. There were no bedside tables, closets, or drawers. I keep wondering why hotels don't at least put hooks on the walls. It would make travel easier and keep coats and clothes from ending up all over the room. That's something I run into on both work and private trips.

The location is still convenient, but at night there are many homeless people around and the area feels less safe. I stayed here about ten years ago and remember it as clean, comfortable, and well kept. This time the building seemed neglected and worn down, with little sign of maintenance for years. For just €50 more, I think you can find somewhere much better nearby. It's a shame this place has lost the good reputation it once had.

The bed bug issue seems to have been resolved, though earlier reviews had left me pretty paranoid. My room wasn't cleaned properly: there was a cigarette butt and grime on the walls. I heard every voice in the corridor all night because the rooms aren't as soundproof as you'd expect. There was no AC, and apparently hot water only runs at certain times. The staff were fairly responsive, and it's an easy walk to the center. Still, as a solo traveler, especially a woman, I wouldn't recommend it. The location made me feel somewhat unsafe, and walking around was uncomfortable even if that's not exactly the hotel's fault.

The hygiene was horrible, and I couldn't sleep. The bed smelled and was full of bed bugs, so I literally slept in a chair. I would never recommend this hotel, and it should be officially reported to the Belgian gov for closure. If I could give zero stars, I would.
