La Bourse Hotel

For the price, the location is a real plus: the neighborhood stays lively through much of the day and night, and it's well connected. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, and better quality than you'd expect. A bit more soundproofing would help, though. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs for the weekend nightlife noise.

The staff were warm and attentive, and we liked how roomy and quiet the room was. The location was fantastic too. The pillows left me with a headache and sore neck every morning, and the room ran so hot that we kept opening the windows to let in the cold December air. Apart from those two problems, we really enjoyed staying here.

The room was clean, the bed VERY comfortable, and there was hot water, heating, and nice furniture. The staff were friendly and helpful too. Breakfast was the letdown: there wasn't much to choose from, the eggs and potatoes were cold, the juices weren't good, and spicy dishes should be marked as spicy. This hotel has good potential, but there's room to improve.

We spent one night here for the Christmas Markets and could walk everywhere without using public transit. Central Station and the markets are both a short walk away, so the location is hard to beat. The staff were friendly, and even though we arrived before check-in, our room was ready and we could freshen up before heading out. It was huge by European standards, clean, and comfortable, with the boys' beds on the lower level and our large bed up in the loft. The bathroom was the one odd bit. That floor-to-ceiling shower mirror creeped us out, maybe we've watched too many horror flicks. Also, the toilet sits so close to the sink that I hit my head on it twice while bending to pull up my pants. That's on me, but consider this a heads-up.
