Martin's Brussels EU Hotel

The breakfast was fine, but poor cleanliness completely spoiled my stay. When I arrived, both pillowcases on the bed were dirty, and I have photos. The two spare pillows in the wardrobe smelled unpleasant too, so it seemed the bedding might not have been washed after the previous guest. I asked reception for a clean pillowcase. The staff member brought one that looked clean, but it had the same odor, which made me doubt it had just been laundered. I couldn't get comfortable using the pillows and slept with a towel over one instead. Clean bedding should be a basic standard. I can't recommend this hotel.

The hotel is near the EU parliament, with lots of different restaurants around. The bed linens were decent, but the place is nothing special, a bit dated and dark. And the bathroom had a jacuzzi tub? Ewww.

It looks nice at first, but a closer look showed mold and dust in the bathroom, dust in the bedroom, and worn furniture. The mirrors and bathroom fixtures were crispy, the ironing board was broken, and the gym was untidy with worn-out equipment. Some sauna accessories were broken too. Reception was impolite and showed little hospitality. They forgot things they'd promised, then argued or dodged the issue when reminded. Even after I pointed it out, they ignored the broken bowl in the sauna :))) Doesn't feel like a 4* place.

The hotel looks nice, but the billing and follow-up were unacceptable. On checkout day the front desk charged us twice for the stay and tried to reverse the extra payment, but we still didn't get the full amount back. Sorting it out took so long that we missed our onward transport, adding stress and disruption. After checkout, another €50 was taken from my credit card without authorization. The hotel said they'd sort it out when I contacted them, but then stopped replying to emails. More than a week later, there was still no refund. Being charged without permission and ignored afterward isn't what I'd expect at this level. I wouldn't stay again, and I'd advise others to check their card statements carefully.
