Good value and a great stay. My room was small but perfectly good, and the bed was cozy and comfortable. Host Guy helped me a lot when a strike in Germany caused me difficulties. I’d come back anytime.

The room I got was a space made by closing off part of a staircase, not a proper room. I’d reserved 15 square meters for 70 euros, but this room was no more than 5 square meters. The bed, squeezed under the roof for lack of space, didn’t seem suitable for a normal person. I was really upset, and I wanted to make a complaint to the public services. I hope someone from the public service in Brussels checks this place, because I don’t think this room meets health and safety regulations, which is more than just a question of floor area. When I complained, they offered me a big apartment for extra payment. I refused and didn’t have to pay the difference, but in my opinion it felt like an attempt to defraud me. It shouldn’t be possible for this fake room to be on the market.

There was no breakfast, no noise insulation, and the room was closet-sized. In the shared bathrooms, your knees hit the wall when you use the toilet. The place seems built from the cheapest materials, with no outlets beside the bed, no table, and no hangers. A strong synthetic strawberry smell was everywhere, enough to give me a headache. Avoid it at all costs.

Clean, nice, well located, and good value, with a very helpful owner and staff. I was given a room on the fourth floor, though, and there’s no elevator. It was fine for one night.
