The Opera Residence

It’s well situated, and the rooms are small but okay. The street was noisy all night. We left very unhappy because breakfast had been charged upfront, but they wouldn’t refund us for two days when they couldn’t provide it because a large group was using the breakfast room.

I haven’t stayed at this hotel myself. I recently heard, though, that it treated a cleaning lady very badly after her husband died in a traffic accident. She had worked there for 11 years. Her doctor gave her five days off, but the hotel said she wasn’t ill and was unhappy about her absence. When she asked for another five days to bury her husband in his home country, that request was denied, and she was forced to resign. She had just given birth and had lost her husband. I’ve read lots of positive reviews about the hotel’s hygiene and cleanliness. Now you know how someone who cleaned it for 11 years was treated. Very shameful.

Central downtown, straightforward, and fairly priced. The staff are really kind. If you’re staying more than one night, a bigger room might be a good choice. Don’t expect a minibar or coffee machine, just Wi-Fi, TV, and a bed. You don’t really need more, since there are restaurants and coffee shops everywhere nearby.

It’s easy to get around from here, with tourist spots nearby and restaurants and snack shops just around the corner, so finding food isn’t a problem. The hotel is outdated but clean. The walls are thin, though, and you can clearly hear people talking in the next room.
