Flandria Hotel

For a night when you just need somewhere to sleep, this is good value if you don't need a modern or luxurious room. It's a cheap, clean place right in the centre of Ghent, with the main sights an easy walk away and very friendly staff. The building is worn and could use renovation, and the stairs make it unsuitable if climbing them is difficult.

We were told the delay was because just one cleaner was handling all the rooms, and ours was last on the list. Check-in was meant to start at 2:30pm, but we didn't get into our room until around 4:30pm. They gave us the keys early, but when we went in, it hadn't been cleaned. Once it was supposedly finished, the room smelled even worse than before and was still quite dirty. There were flies splattered on the walls, including some too close to the bed for my liking. A very disappointing stay.

A small, pleasant hotel tucked into a side street in central Gent. The rooms are nice and the beds comfortable, and the staff are super friendly. If you book it, there's a delicious little breakfast buffet in the morning. Everything is close enough to walk to. Highly recommended 😊

We were on the top floor, so there were lots of stairs to climb. The bathroom was tiny, and the shower area was so worn and cramped there was barely space to turn around. Nobody cleaned our room or changed the towels during our three days there. The old building smelled of mildew, and it didn't feel clean. Dirt on the steep, narrow stairs was still there after three days. The bathroom door squeaked too, and the place felt a bit overpriced.
