Hotel Les Eleveurs

Breakfast was genuinely good, and the restaurant looked cozy. We’d booked the hotel because of the restaurant, but I should have realized we needed to reserve well ahead. I messaged through Booking on the morning of our travel day and got no reply, including afterward. At check-in, there was no dinner table available, which was a shame. We might try the restaurant another time if we stop by and book early, but we won’t stay at the hotel again. Room 204 had no bathroom door, not even an inexpensive curtain, which was very uncomfortable. It faced a river with ugly construction, unlike the “Graden view” and “courtyard view” listed for the standard double or twin room. It also didn’t feel anywhere near 25 square meters. The online photos show bathroom doors, so I don’t know whether room 204 is the only one without a door despite costing the same 155euro, or whether the site shows only the best room and leaves out details about the others. Sleep was poor too. A train rack runs along the river, and trains sometimes horn as they pass, including at 6 am. The hotel is in an old house with bad sound insulation, so we could hear kids jumping upstairs. The bed was too soft, and all of that made it hard to sleep well.

We only went to the restaurant for dinner and didn’t stay at the hotel. The decor is minimal, but still very cozy and inviting. We chose the chef’s choice, and the food was good, with great service. There aren’t many tables, so booking ahead is a good idea if you don’t want to be disappointed. Parking is very limited as well, so you may need to leave the car along the roadside and walk over.

The food is what really stands out: a refined dinner restaurant and amazing breakfast options. The hotel is conveniently close to the train station. Its location in old renovated buildings can be a little confusing at times.

We had a great evening at this place just outside the city centre, with private parking in front. The food was very good, mixing traditional dishes with some unexpected twists. There’s an excellent, affordable wine list featuring less traditional producers, regions, and grapes. Staff were professional and helpful. The restaurant has a bit of a macho vibe, with lots of personality and showmanship. You’ll either love that or hate it, but it’s clearly part of its character.
