B&B d'Hellekapelle

The staff are really lovely, always smiling and ready with good advice. The menu is very good, and the carbonnade is delicious. What makes it even better are the daily dishes and desserts, which change often and are more refined, with real care given to both taste and presentation. It’s always a real pleasure to walk through the door of this warm, authentic place. An address you shouldn’t miss.

The food was generous, delicious, and clearly prepared with care. We were welcomed warmly by the "oude, vertrouwde ploeg van Ter Plekke", who have kept the place's character and friendly atmosphere intact. It's a charming, inviting estaminet, and a lovely place to spend time over a good meal. Well worth a visit.

The food tasted good, though one dish arrived cold. I found it hard to mention because nobody checked on us or even looked our way. Cold food is a real no-go for me, and that's the kitchen's responsibility. If everything had been hot, I'd have given 3 out of 5 instead of 2. The owners were friendly, the dishes were fairly priced, and the suggestions were original. A few small changes could have made the visit feel quite different. We waited fifteen minutes after sitting down before anyone brought a menu. Getting one straight away would make the wait easier, and service did pick up a little after we got our aperitif. The picon was 4.50 euros, which isn't expensive, but at a restaurant in Heuvelland we'd rather pay a bit more for a really good one.

The bistro's decor is so unusual, and I left very happy with the meal. While we waited for the main courses, they even brought us a complimentary appetizer. The dishes were delicious, with a few quite original choices, and the service was quick and friendly.
