Les Merlettes & Le Merle Moqueur

The location was incredible, the industrial kitchen was well equipped, and the price felt very fair. The housekeeper was kind, and the cleaning staff were understanding when we checked out. It's a good setup for a group holiday, with a real youth hostel feel. The building has seen better days, and the room layout was a mess, but we had a good laugh about it.

The ground floor works well for large groups, but the bedrooms are really dated. Some weren't clean, and there were lots of defects. In my view, the place is no longer rentable.

We celebrated my 50th birthday here with (over) 50 friends and family. It's a special, atmospheric place for an occasion like that, and I highly recommend Les Merlettes. There's no luxury, but there is plenty of character and a friendly atmosphere. The rooms are basic, yet comfortable and perfectly fine. Communal areas feel cozy and practical, and in good weather you can sit outside. The kitchen is well equipped, and we managed to cook a full meal there. There are two shower rooms as well, handy for tents or a campervan.

The place has plenty of room to eat and drink, with a large kitchen stocked with crockery, pans and utensils, plus a good dishwasher. There's also a pool table and a foosball table. A second building across the street adds bedrooms, a living room, dining room and kitchen. We found the building clearly old, with quaint hallways and a few low doorways. Some furniture is dated, and a few window frames could use maintenance, but neither bothered us. The stream alongside is great for playing, and a beaver family lives there. Canoe and mountain bike rentals are right next door, and it's a 15-minute walk to the village center. It's a beautiful, spacious place, well suited to hosting a large group.
