Hotel Industrie

We were left out on the streets of Leuven because our room couldn't be used, after a bed bug infestation kept us up all night as we tried to deal with it. We had to find somewhere else to stay. They promised a refund, but it never arrived. My friend called and was told it had been processed, and that they'd email us the bank transaction receipt. They never sent it. I'm lowering my rating for the service too. Abysmal.

Check-in and checkout were easy, and breakfast was good. The rooms themselves are okay, but there’s no AC. In June it was unbearably hot, so I had to leave the windows open. Then the noise made it hard to fall asleep before 1 AM, and traffic woke me at 6.

I stayed in room 17 in late May and had an issue with bed bugs. I know this can happen even in clean places, so it doesn't necessarily say anything about the hotel's overall cleanliness. What disappointed me was the staff's response. I emailed the night I checked out and immediately heard that they couldn't do anything right away because the next day was a holiday. It came across as dismissive and not urgent. I expected more empathy and a proactive response. Taking responsibility, offering an immediate solution, or simply recognizing the inconvenience more sincerely would have made a difference. I haven't heard back from then since, and it's been over a week.

The friendly staff were the one positive. There’s no elevator, which can be hard for older people and for anyone in very hot weather. The beds are extremely soft, which some people may like and others may not. Breakfast was okay, not great: some eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, bread, two kinds of meat, salami, a few fruits and baked goods, plus coffee, tea, water and juice. The bathroom had some mold and a very bad sewer smell. There’s no AC, and at 36 C the room was like a sauna. Even with the window open around the clock and black curtains to block the sun, sleeping normally was impossible. Rooms facing the station were very, very loud in summer, with noise starting around 5 in the morning.
