Airbnb was having ongoing login problems on the day I booked, especially with phone number logins, since new accounts never get a code. A friend asked me to help, so I made the booking on my account. The stay turned into an extremely unpleasant experience because the hostel host showed no professionalism or respect. The rules allowed bookings up to two hours before check-in ended, and I booked nearly four hours before the cutoff. So I don’t understand why the host complained that it was last-minute. If check-in is allowed until a certain time but nobody is there then, that’s a failure of customer service and communication, not the client’s problem. Instead of helping us find an entrance and check in, the host went to watch football at 20:10. The host then kept sending irrelevant, unprofessional personal photos from a bar, showing food and the match. The whole thing left a very negative impression of the host and accommodation. I strongly advise against booking here.

I noted an early check-in in the booking and arrived at 8 am, then sat out on the street until noon. They didn’t say anything about the booking until then. When they gave me a room, it had filthy linens and towels left by previous guests. They told me to go for a walk until 3, but when we came back, they still hadn’t cleaned it in front of us. We changed the bedding on one bed, and that was all. All the furniture was sticky and dirty, impossible to touch. Only one battery worked, and the refrigerator by the bed didn’t work either.

Peter is a great gentleman who provided excellent housing. The place has good access to public transport and is a great option for students and researchers. Best place to stay in Leuven. I’ll come back for a long-term stay when registration is allowed.

I didn’t hate it, but I was very disappointed. The room was large, but that was about its only plus. It wasn’t very child-friendly: my daughter nearly slipped through the separator on the upper level and landed on the level below. Nothing in the room really worked. There was no TV, the bathroom and toilet were tiny, and there was no reception desk. Breakfast was quite Spartan, and this felt more like a hostel than a real hotel.

For a one-star place, even that rating feels generous. The first night there was no hot water, and there were hairs in the towel.
