Campanile Hotel Liege

The room was clean when we arrived, the AC worked, and the beds were comfortable for a short family stay. The location was one of the best things about Hotel Campanile Liège, close to main roads, restaurants, and attractions. We also had a balcony-facing view, which made things feel more open. Staff were friendly, polite, and helpful at check-in and when we had questions. The skylight looked nice, but it was the room’s only window and it was sealed shut, so there was no way to get fresh air. That felt a bit claustrophobic. The bigger problem came in the morning: we woke up with several bug bites, which strongly suggests bed bugs. We didn’t bring it up at the desk because of our travel timing, but it definitely affected the stay. That’s not something you expect or accept at any level of hotel.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the place was easy to find with good parking options. The rooms, though, were a mess. In the first one, the carpets had stains and were dirty, and the cleaning hadn’t been done well. Toys from previous guests were still under the bed, and there was mold in the ceiling corners. The room felt mismanaged overall. We explained everything to the receptionist, who apologized and showed us to another room. It was a bit better, but still below hotel standards. The toilet wasn’t secured properly to the wall and seemed close to falling off. This place should be classed as a motel, not a hotel. If you need a quick stop on the way to France, I wouldn’t choose it. If you have no other option, ask for a room farthest from reception, as the party rooms are near there. I hope this helps someone avoid the disappointment we had on arrival.

My family and I stayed in room 36, and we couldn’t sleep at all. The room was dangerously hot, with no opening window or AC, and the fan didn’t work. I called reception and asked someone to come check it. The guy said he’d be there shortly, but never showed up. There was also extreme noise from somewhere outside. This was the worst experience we’ve ever had at a hotel. The place shouldn’t qualify as a hotel and should be called something else.

I didn't feel comfortable leaving my things in the room, especially since there was no safe. The place felt more like a motel than a hotel, with tiny rooms and below-average cleanliness. Staff were kind and helpful, but breakfast was just average and everything was cold. It's around a 23-30 minute walk to the city center, and the buses weren't reliable or convenient, sometimes running late and sometimes not showing up at all. Overall, a bad stay.
