The location is good, but I regret booking this hotel for what we paid and what we got. Only one of the three power outlets worked. They didn’t restock body wash, coffee, tea, or sugar, and there were no extras like a toothbrush or shaving kit. They have those things, but just didn’t bother to restock. I dropped something behind the shower heating unit and found it full of dust. It’s easy to reach, so it clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The swimming pool had no towels. I asked the front desk for one and waited 30 minutes. Agoda said parking was free, but the hotel wanted to charge 19,20. The pool and jacuzzi also had two safety hazards: the handles for getting out were loose. It felt like staying in an Ibis hotel, not van der Valk. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Looking out over the Meuse River was a highlight, and the room felt clean and up to date. Staff were professional and pleasant throughout. My only gripe was the slow checkout when a morning queue formed. Otherwise, I had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel.

The spa and pool were good, and the rooms were clean and roomy. The hotel itself was fine, but dinner was a frustrating experience. We waited 20 minutes for anyone to take our order, then had to approach the waiters ourselves. The food took another half hour, and the whole meal lasted about two hours. Our waiter didn't speak English and seemed not to understand when I ordered in French. He said Belgian tap water was awful, so we paid nearly 7 euros for half a litre of bottled water, even though the water in our room seemed fine. The food was okay once it arrived, nothing special. I'd avoid the restaurant for dinner.

After a long trip, checking in with the night duty receptionist on 15/12/25 was a bad start. He needs training in welcoming guests, speaking with them, and checking reservations. He seemed to have no idea about hotel management or CRM. He also seemed to have some difficulty with people. If he doesn't want to do the job, he shouldn't be doing it. He wasn't a good face for the hotel at reception.

You might be able to sleep here if food smells don't bother you. I felt like I was sleeping inside a restaurant.
