Jimmy made us feel welcome right away and knows the area inside out. My father and I spent a long weekend in Ieper while cycling around Flanders, visiting battlefields and trying breweries, and Bike & Breakfast was a great base for it. Our room had plenty of space for us and all our gear. From the house, many of Ieper’s main sights, bars and restaurants are an easy walk, and its spot just south of the city centre worked well for us. We didn’t join one of Jimmy’s tours of the Ypres Salient, but he spoke with real knowledge about the main battle sites and had clearly researched the Great War history of the region extensively. He also speaks excellent English. We had a fantastic stay and would happily recommend it.

Jimmy is easygoing, kind and helpful, and knows the area well. He’s happy to help you figure out what to do, and you can rent a bike from him too. The house sits within the old town walls, making it a handy starting point for all sorts of outings. There’s free parking a five-minute walk away. We really enjoyed chatting with Jimmy over breakfast, which was delicious and generous. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a cosy feel and lovely interior touches. The bathroom had everything we needed, including a large shower. The house is beautifully decorated, with lots of subtle reminders of the past.

A good alternative to a hotel when visiting Ypres. The owner knows the area and can recommend places to see. You get your own front door key, and the owner helped us use a permit for free parking. I’d definitely stay here again.

The beers were delicious, and the host knows a lot about Ypres and WWI. It’s a welcoming, cosy B&B with a distinctive room that’s spacious and split over two levels.
