AMAR Design Hotel by HMG

The heating stayed on all day and night, making the room about 24 degrees. We opened a window at night, but the noise then made it hard to sleep. Breakfast was fine, though oddly they served yogurt without spoons, and the worker was a bit rude when I asked for one. The stay was all right. By Bulgarian standards, it’s probably a really good hotel, but there’s room to improve.

The temperature was around 27°C, and there was no way to adjust the heating or air conditioning. Reception said I could only switch it off completely, which isn’t a real answer when you’re trying to sleep. I wouldn’t have booked if I’d known I couldn’t set the room temperature. I couldn’t sleep because of the heating and air conditioning setup, and it felt like a scam. The room itself was clean and beautifully designed, so first impressions were good. Breakfast was disappointing too, and didn’t live up to the “amazing” reviews I’d seen. The basic spread included eggs (scrambled, fried, boiled), sausages, bacon, some cheeses, bread and cereal, plus a few extras like waffles, which unfortunately weren’t good.

The AC was the one weak spot; it didn’t work well. Fix that and I’d give it five stars. The room and beds were comfortable, the shower was great, and the Wi-Fi worked well.

The shower had no curtain in my room, so water ended up all over the floor each time. The pictures on the website and booking page make it look like every room has a shower curtain, but that isn’t true. Breakfast was really good. I still wouldn’t recommend the place because they advertise something you expect to get, then don’t provide it.
