Grami Hotel Sofia

The worst part of our final night in Bulgaria was arriving at Grami Hotel after a delay the hotel had already acknowledged. We were traveling as a family with a child, and had messaged through booking.com to explain that we would be about 30 minutes late because of the time difference. At 2:15 a.m., a tall blond man at reception angrily questioned our arrival time, then took our passports and threw them onto the desk. He refused our request for a refund. After a month visiting 8 countries and 16 cities, we had never been welcomed like that. We expected hospitality and condemn this behavior. The experience was deeply hurtful, and I would not stay there again if I returned to Bulgaria. Grami Hotel has received our negative rating. I hope management takes this seriously and makes sure staff treat guests more politely. We are two teachers from Turkey. 👎👎👎👎 #gramihotel #bulgaria #sofia #gramihotel #bulgaristan #bulgaristankonsolosluğu

The family room had large beds, and overall we had a good stay. There were plenty of vegan choices at breakfast. We couldn't get a baby cot because the hotel was short-staffed, and parking spaces were scarce. We could also smell smoke from our room across the hall when the cleaning staff smoked on the balcony at the end of the hallway.

It's conveniently close to the ring road, and one of Sofia's best Happy Restaurants is nearby.

Nothing about the stay was positive for me. The hotel feels stuck in the 1980s, and I can't see how it could be rated four stars. By European standards, I'd give it two. Breakfast was inedible.
