Nikolaos P.
The room was spacious, but the heavy, cheap fragrance made it hard to stay in, and one bed hadn't been cleaned properly and smelled of smoke. Breakfast was poor quality for the price and a five-star hotel, and the coffee tasted burnt. My main concern was an attempted charge to my card from the front desk at 3 a.m. Nobody knew anything about it. The manager was defensive and evasive, denied it happened, and offered no help, even though my bank confirmed the charge came from this hotel's front desk. The city tax charge on the same card also confirmed that connection. Staff handled the matter very unprofessionally, and I suspect there may be a plan to steal money from guests. After seeing the hotel's response, I decided to leave my review as it is. I found other reviews describing similar charges to guest cards and similar reactions from the front desk. My interactions with the staff only made me more disappointed. Avoid this place. There are smaller chain boutique hotels with better value.

The rooms are exceptionally spacious, and I slept well. Being able to open the window was a plus, though I missed having an ironing board and steam iron. It's a large hotel suited to business events. Breakfast was fine, but could be better, especially the egg station.

The hotel is good value, with very large rooms and genuinely friendly staff. It's centrally located, though the nearest bus or metro station is still a 10-15 minute walk away. Parking is limited, and when we arrived there wasn't a space for us. Aside from that, I'd definitely recommend it.

The buffet had lots of tasty choices, and I especially enjoyed the fresh fruit. My room was huge, bright, modern and very clean, with high ceilings. I also liked the Orthodox Easter decorations with the bunnies, and the lobby was gorgeous. The one sour note was the man by the elevator to the Club. He was gruff and snarky when we were only asking a question. Otherwise, the hotel was fabulous.

One thing to budget for is the pool. It's listed on Booking, but we learned on arrival that it's part of the spa, which costs 40 euros per day. If access to a pool matters to you, include that spa fee in your plans. Also, drinks in the casino aren't free unless you're actively playing and earning loyalty points to spend at the bar. The points seemed barely enough for a beer. We came to Grand Millennium Hotel in Sofia for New Year celebrations and booked four nights without breakfast. The place feels impressive from the moment you enter. Our room was huge and comfortable, and housekeeping was excellent. Every day a cleaner came in and properly washed the shower with cleaning products. The lifts require a room card and only let you access your own floor. We enjoyed the casino, which is very luxurious. There are two restaurants on its floor: a full casino restaurant where anyone can order, and an Asian restaurant we liked so much that we wrote a separate review. The casino restaurant lets players use points for a free meal. The Asian menu is varied, with sushi, fish, and plenty of meat dishes, and everything we tried was really good. There's a high-quality Mediterranean restaurant on the ground floor. Upstairs on the first floor, a coffee bistro serves a good range of coffees, fresh juices, and breakfast options. On the 28th floor, Spectrum is an upscale rooftop fine dining restaurant with a great view across the city. Its dishes are small and expensive, but the setting and atmosphere make it worth visiting at least once. The food and service were great, and the whole place has a premium feel. Just be clear on what's included and what costs extra.
