Hostel Mostel

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and everything was organized well. What made my stay extra special was the hostel staff arranging a night out and taking us to some really fun bars. It was a great way to meet people. The atmosphere felt welcoming and friendly from the moment I arrived. I had such a good stay at this hostel in Sofia!

We booked a private room in another building for one night so we could go sightseeing, and we knew about the separate building ahead of time. The room was clean and had good heating, a kettle for boiling water, a small table, a good bed, and towels. It felt pretty safe. The main hostel building has a lovely common area and a breakfast with a really good variety. Breakfast isn't included, but you can sign up, and it was definitely a highlight. Bulgaria doesn't seem to have many people who can chat in English, but the lovely staff were kind and helpful, took care of everything, and easily answered our questions. Thank you!

The toilets are at the far end of the building, and you have to go outside to get to them. That felt strange and was annoying when I needed to pee at 3am. The room was clean and pretty decent; the shower wasn't the cleanest, but still better than most hostels I've stayed in. Staff were very nice and helpful, the common room was relaxed, and there was usually free tea. The kitchen was alright too. The location is okay, not too far from everything. A solid little hostel, though a bit strange in some ways.

The shared bathrooms can feel basic and sometimes humid, and the cleanliness is okay rather than luxurious. It has a no-frills, authentic backpacker feel. Still, the prices are reasonable for Sofia, and it's good value if you're on a budget. Hostel Mostel is in the heart of Sofia, a few minutes' walk from many main sights, bars, and transport links, which made getting around easy. Staff were friendly and helpful, with good local tips, and the lively common area made it easy to meet other travelers. There is free Wi-Fi throughout and some fun communal spaces. It's a good option if you want a central, social stay without spending much. Not luxury, but a good place to meet people and get to know the city.
