Hotel Via Serdika

The staff were lovely, and the hotel is handy for visiting the Museum of Illusions, the Cathedral and the Patriarchal Cathedral St. Alexander Nevsky. You can walk to the city centre too, and the airport isn't far when traffic is light. The building feels quite modern, but a few things need attention. Two legs broke off a chair in our room and someone fell, injuring a finger. The bathroom handle also came off. Breakfast was disappointing, especially the fruit: they had cut a banana into pieces and left them exposed, and the sausages were the smallest I've ever seen. Still, it's a nice hotel overall, with a few things to fix.

For a North American, hotels in Europe and the Balkans can sometimes feel like a step down from what I'm used to at home. This one didn't. There were lots of thoughtful touches, and the breakfast was excellent. The front desk staff were warm and helpful. My first stay in Sofia came with an extremely comfortable room, a lovely bed with high quality sheets, and a gorgeous, spotless bathroom. The tourist areas are a short walk away, though the neighborhood has its own charm.

We walked to the city centre each day. It takes about 15-20 minutes, and it's a pleasant route. Lavov Most metro is close too, with just one stop to Serdika station in the centre. The room was comfortable and clean, and the hotel is stunning. Huge thanks to Michelle and the reception staff for making our stay so memorable. When we're back in Sofia, we'll stay here again. One of the best hotels I've stayed in.

We ended up loving our stay and have promised ourselves we'll come back. The staff, from housekeeping to reception, were all kind, attentive and helpful, and the luggage storage room was really useful both before check-in and after check-out. Breakfast was a highlight, with continental choices as well as traditional Bulgarian food. We had fresh banitsa, lukanka and Bulgarian cheeses on different mornings, all delicious. Hotel Via Serdika has a really pleasant feel. It's a new, modern building, spotless throughout, and within easy walking distance of Sofia's main sights and close to major transport links. Our room was spacious and contemporary, with tea and coffee facilities and complimentary water. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, so we slept well. The shower had great pressure, and the toiletries smelled wonderful. I found Hotel Via Serdika by chance while searching, and it turned out to be a real gem.
