Kniaz Boris Hotel

There was a cigarette smell in my room. At night you can see through the curtain, so with people outside, I didn't feel safe.

The room had an uncomfortable bed, towels that smelled strongly of mildew, and no sound or thermal insulation. Its view looked out onto a sex shop. There was also a strong cigarette and damp smell, even though it was a non-smoking room. I don't know how the odor got in. I arrived at 11:30 PM. After checking in at 23:30, I wanted to go out to find something to eat, but the staff locked the main door. When I tried to leave or come back, they greeted me with frowns, asked where I was going at that hour, and said I wouldn't find anywhere open. The room cost BGN 65.70 for one night, and they accepted cash only. I paid 70 BGN and got no change. This was one of the worst hotel stays I've had. Next time it would make much more sense to pay an extra €10 and stay elsewhere.

The price is the only good thing. Double bed rooms are very small, and you can't push the beds together. The hotel smells strongly of tobacco and damp, even in rooms where smoking isn't allowed, and there are ashtrays there. Cleaning and the bathrooms are both very bad. It isn't a nice hotel, more like a pension.

The price got me a decent night's sleep, but that's about all I'd expect from this place. The building and interior haven't been updated in years, and the beds and sheets are old. There's no A/C, and the room smelled unpleasant. I also didn't feel safe leaving my things behind, since you can't take the key out of the hotel. I wouldn't stay here again.
