Maison Sofia - Mgallery Collection

The room itself was comfortable and roomy, with a good bed and Nuxe products, but it wasn't cleaned while I was out. I pressed the cleaning button before leaving around 11 a.m., came back about 2-3 p.m. and found it untouched. I also asked a cleaner in the hall to arrange it while I went to the pool, then returned two hours later to the same mess. I didn't ask again because I was staying in for the evening. The air-con was centrally controlled despite the panel, and the room felt warm, though opening the window helped. The pool is a decent size and I enjoyed swimming, but on Sunday evening lessons took up space while it was busy. A couple of guests seemed reluctant to get in. Guests without swim caps were using shower caps, even though proper ones were for sale at reception, and I saw hair floating in the water. The whirlpool and steam room were both out of order, so I couldn't use the full wellness facilities. Breakfast had a good range, though food quality could be better. The warmer lights hang low enough to be dangerous: I burned the back of my hand. Cleanliness also fell short of five-star standards. The coffee machine was dirty, its capsule tray filthy, no water had been topped up for the next guest, and there was a visible mark on the table. The doorman was very helpful and the concierge efficient. The hotel has good facilities, but needs much more attention to detail for a place marketed as five-star and part of Accor. I'd put it nearer four stars, mainly because it has a pool.

The staff were warm and ready to help, and the area around the hotel was pleasant and convenient. I found the rooms clean and spacious, with a relaxing feel. There was a good choice at breakfast, and the spa added to the stay. A really enjoyable experience.

The pool and sauna have plenty of space, though lessons can leave almost the whole pool occupied, with just one lane for hotel guests. The rooms felt fresh and the WiFi was reliable. The location is a little away from the centre, which may suit some people. I missed the breakfast deal in the Accor app: it was 14€ online and 20€ at the counter. I'd call ahead next time to check the price.

The staff were lovely for the most part, but that couldn't make the price feel right for the quality. The motorway noise nearby was loud enough to make sleep difficult at times, and getting into the city was awkward because public transport is far away, leaving us reliant on taxis. Our room felt cramped despite being furnished adequately. It was small, dusty and dated, and hard to settle into. During our 4 night stay, housekeeping left the beds only half made. That's not the level of service I'd expect from this collection. Maison Sofia MGallery was just okay, and felt like a 3 star hotel at best. I won't be coming back.
