Rosslyn Thracia Hotel

We slept really well here. Even with the central location, nights were quiet, and the staff were kind and helpful. The place looks sleek and stylish but still feels welcoming. WiFi slowed down now and then, though mobile reception was great. We had to unplug the minibar fridge because its glass door and bright white lights were annoying. Apart from that, it was pretty much faultless and I’d happily recommend it.

We could walk to everything in the city center, and the breakfast was one of our favorite parts of the stay. We stayed in a suite at the Rosslyn Thracia Hotel in February 2026, three people together, and were very happy with it. The room was clean and had all sorts of thoughtful things, including a coffee machine, toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb and hair clip, shoe sponge, nail file, and body moisturizer. The rooms and breakfast were top-notch for us. I’ve already booked by email for March, when I’ll be staying with my daughter. I don’t see a need to look for another hotel, and hope we’ll be just as pleased next time.

The location is excellent for walks and business in central Sofia, and there’s strong WiFi and parking for an extra charge. One young woman at reception, who had been working there about a month, was a bright spot. The rest of my family’s Christmas 2025 stay left me very unhappy with the hospitality. I work in hospitality, so staff attitude matters to me. Aside from that receptionist, I rarely saw anyone smile. People were generally rude, especially the woman serving breakfast. Breakfast ends at 10:30, and although we had taken our plates by then, at 10:34 I tried to pour more orange juice from the machine. I wasn’t asking for food, just a drink, but got a very sharp “Breakfast closed” in reply. At a 4 star hotel, I found that unacceptable. The coffee sachets in our room weren’t replenished on day 2, so I asked reception for two for the next morning. The same thing happened on day 3. The man at reception again said rudely that we had to pay. I said fine, I would, even though hotels I’ve stayed in refill these daily and the sachets cost about 0.05 per item. He then spoke in Bulgarian, so I couldn’t understand him. Our room was poorly cleaned during the 4 day stay, with the carpets in room 702 filthy, and we had to ask for toilet paper. The shower was moldy and broken, with water running onto the floor, so we used towels to mop it up. The hotel did nothing. I watched staff interacting with guests and often saw them shake their heads and stare when they disagreed with something. At checkout, the receptionist didn’t even ask how our stay had been, which is a standard question in my line of work. The location is great, but the human side of the service leaves a lot to be desired.

The staff are super nice and helpful, and the location is perfect. The room suits our family of three with an extra bed, and it has what we need, including a teapot, coffee maker, cups, and glasses. We’ve stayed here for years and used to love the place, but after two visits about three weeks apart this summer, I came away disappointed. The rooms don’t seem as clean as they used to. Walking barefoot, you can feel bits of stuff underfoot, so the vacuuming could be better. They do provide slippers, at least. The bathroom looks nice and has toiletries, but really needs a thorough scrub. There’s mold all over the shower and its walls. I hope they improve the cleaning, or we’ll have to stay somewhere else.
